Taylor Made Diagnostics, Inc (TMD) founded in 1995 by Caroline Taylor, a registered nurse. In 1995 Caroline had a one year old and wanted to start a business so that the nights and weekends would be spent with my family. So the dilemma, what to do? She has always said that if you can solve a problem then you can create an opportunity for a business. Digging deeper into a business idea/opportunity, she thought about what she look for from a business such as service, convenience, positive attitude, reasonable pricing, and accuracy, ease of use, responsiveness and relationship driven. As we all know, those themes seem to be a thing of the past but not at TMD.
Researching OSHA and other agency medical surveillance requirements or just company policy mandates, Caroline came up with a mobile medical service which could ease the burden on employers that had to send employees one at a time to a medical facility which took hours per person. She rolled out a 30 foot medical unit that went directly to the employer and accomplished all requirements needed in a very short amount of time. It was such a well-received, convenient service that in 1998 my customers asked me to open a facility to offer additional services like worker’s comp care, random drug testing, pre-employment exams and the rest is history. In 1998 Caroline’s first occupational medical facility was opened in Chesapeake, Virginia.
TMD currently operates and manages an occupational health clinic in the Hampton Roads, Virginia, which provide services to Federal, State and local businesses. TMD offers a broad range of high quality, cost-effective, competitively priced occupational health care services and DOT/Non DOT Drug and Alcohol management programs. We have become the preferred provider for Occupational Health Services throughout Virginia for our clients in the marine, transportation, manufacturing, construction and other various industries. And yes, our mobile unit is on-site every day as well. In 2015, we have outfitted another mobile unit fully capable of providing all of the required compliance testing for your business industries.
