CAROLINE TAYLOR, PRESIDENT OF TAYLOR MADE DIAGNOSTICS, INC. WINNER OF THE 2016 SBA SMALL BUSINESSES PERSON OF THE YEAR AWARD
Chesapeake – The Chesapeake Economic Development Department, is pleased to announce that Caroline Taylor, President of Taylor Made Diagnostics, Inc. is this year’s recipient of the 2016 SBA Small Business Person of the Year Award for the State of Virginia. The announcement was made on Monday, March 14 by Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet, head of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Taylor Made Diagnostics, Incorporated operates an occupational health clinic and mobile medical teams which have provided services to more than 1,700 federal, state and local employers. Founded by Caroline Taylor, a Registered Nurse (RN), with over 27 years of healthcare experience. In 2009, Taylor Made expanded and was the first business to purchase an office condo in the new Gateway at SoNo complex. Headquartered in Chesapeake’s South Norfolk area, Taylor Made has grown to 18 employees. Taylor Made also has a mobile unit that will allow industry leaders to utilize the expertise of their medical team at the worksite making it much easier to meet compliance requirements, increase efficiency and reduce cost and downtime.
Taylor Made supports many charities such as the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, HER Women’s Shelter, South Norfolk’s National Night Out Sponsor and the South Norfolk Angel Tree. “This award is not just for me, but also for the City of Chesapeake who has been on my side, on my team and has supported me in every aspect of growth since I have been a business owner in Chesapeake,” said Caroline Taylor, RN, Founder and President of Taylor Made Diagnostics (TMD).
Taylor Made Diagnostics holds several certifications including, Micro SWaM Certified, Board Certified Occupational Medicine Provider, Datia & DOT Certified Drug Collectors. She has also won several awards including Inside Business 2011 Woman in Business Achievement Award and in 2015 was named the City of Chesapeake’s Business of the Year.

Each year since 1963, the president has issued a proclamation calling for the celebration of National Small Business Week. National Small Business Week is set as the first week in May, and this year the dates are May 1-7 with national events planned in Washington, D.C., New York City, Atlanta, Denver, Phoenix and San Jose and Oakland, California. Caroline Taylor has been invited to attend ceremonies in Washington, D.C on May 1-2 where she will receive her individual award along with recognition of the runners-up and the naming of the 2016 National Small Business Person of the Year.
