Dr. Picio brings over 20 years of medical experience both as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Family Medicine
Taylor Made Diagnostics (TMD), headquartered in Chesapeake, is proud to announce that Dr. Michael Picio, DO, a board-certified physician with significant occupational related experience serving the United States Navy, has joined the company. Dr. Picio is recognized for his medical leadership as an osteopathic medicine diagnostician and compassionate health care provider.
Prior to joining Taylor Made Diagnostics, Dr. Picio most recently served for the past eight years as a senior medical officer of the United States Navy, where he was a clinic leader, serving throughout the US Navy enterprise – in at sea, foreign and domestic medical clinics of varying size – directly supervising up to 75 medical providers, both civilian and military providers and staff. He also provided superior combat trauma care as a member of a Shock/Trauma Platoon during combat operations in Iraq, achieving 98% survival rate for critically wounded patients.

Dr. Picio, a Pittsburgh, PA native, earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine at the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Missouri after receiving a bachelor’s of science degree with honors in Biology at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA. His family medicine residency specialty training was completed at US Naval Hospital Jacksonville, Florida. He has received several awards and recognition for his achievements including:
- Recipient of the Humanitarian Service Medal for actions during evacuation of personnel, dependents and foreign nationals from US Embassy in Tirana, Albania
- Awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for designing, training and deploying the US Marine Corps’ first Chemical/Biological Incident Response Force
- Built, staffed, supplied and supervised the US Navy’s first community-specific medical clinic for the family members of the US Navy’s Special Warfare Development Group
